Tentative state budget

 The Buffalo News on Sunday also learned, via sources, that the budget is set to:

• Increase – and not cut as Cuomo first proposed in January – funding to the state’s Tuition Assistance Program that is a key to making college tuition more affordable. The eligible per-pupil increase will be up to $500 in the new budget. More operating aid will also be provided to the State University of New York system and tuition at current levels would be frozen at SUNY campuses for 3 years.

 Blanket Extension of Five-Year Limit for Admission to Candidacy (ABD)

The Graduate Council has approved a blanket extension of the five-year limit for admission to candidacy for doctoral students until Spring 2022. No petitions for extensions of the five-year limit will need to be submitted until the Spring 2022 semester.

Ellyn Uram Kaschak Institute fellowships

2021-2022 Student Fellowships: Requests for Proposals

Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply for research support for projects

based on the lived experiences of women and girls, with an emphasis on work designed to

promote equality for women and girls. Fellows receive an award of $2,000 to support their

research. Co-investigators submitting a single successful project will share the award.

Four projects can be funded in 2021-22.

Application deadline: Friday, April 16, 2021 @ 5:00 PM
